Motorbikes dominate the roads of Saigon (officially, Ho Chi Minh City), moving in synchronization like a school of fish, cutting each other off, and yet somehow reaching their destinations (most of the time anyway). There are two focal concerns: the realization of the fullest potential of an individual physically, psychologically, socially, spiritually and economically, and the fulfillment of one's role expectations in the family, community, place of worship, workplace and other setting. Tropical Trip is no Vacation

With assistance from staff and faculty (Amy DiMattia of MBA Student Affairs & Professor Christine Kelly), I worked alongside three brave MIT Sloan students (Manuel Dueñas, Spencer Irvine and Kim Rescigno, all MBA '10) to organize a thirteen student seminar on the economic, cultural and political climate of Antigua. Beauty, Business, and Politics on the Turkey Trek

It's 30°C outside, how about some ice cream? A Cappadocian ice cream vendor hammed it up for Sloan students with his sleight of hand and silly antics as he scooped up cone after cone of sour cherry and pistachio. Yum! Since returning from Turkey, Eric and I have debated: what was our favorite moment during the trip? The ice cream vendor? Floating over the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia in a hot air balloon? Watching the trio of young carpet salesmen work their magic on a pair of German tourists in the Grand Bazaar? Or perhaps it was listening to the rich voices of Istanbul's muezzins as they recited the evening call to prayer. (0) comments
