Iconic to the experience of studying in the US, Spring break is the week long recess from school work enjoyed by university students in early spring. Many believe that spring break began with the ancient Greeks when Socrates proposed a wild rite to welcome spring and allow the young (mainly of mating age) to ‘vent their ingrained urges’ that had been building up over the winter months. While there may still be snow on the ground here in Boston, you probably have a warm weather trip on the horizon and you are trying to figure out how to get beach ready in just a few short weeks. From my experiences you have three major options: -Train for a marathon -Starve yourself -Make some health and nutrition choices While I am an advocate for option #1, running excessive distances can often lead to injury which is a major setback when you are trying to lose weight. As prudent MBA investors, we must never fail in our duty to always extract the best value for our money and time during our current 2 years at MIT Sloan. Unfortunately, while grinding through an overloaded 2nd semester that the previous 1st years swore would be so much better and easier than the core, one can be forgiven for forgetting one’s fiduciary duty to managing the value of our MBA portfolio.
